Abhishek Bachchan Gives It Back To A Troll Who Slammed Him For Saying He ‘Can’t Wait’ For Theatres To Reopen: ‘No Need To Be Rude’
Cinemas and theatres were shut after the lockdown was imposed in India. It has now been almost six months since the cinemas were shut, and moviegoers were expecting that theatres might reopen in the fourth phase of unlock. However, that did not happen and soon, hashtags such as #SupportMovieTheatres, #savecinemas and others were trending on social media. As film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi talked about missing celebrating cinema, Abhishek Bachchan also expressed his excitement saying that he can’t wait for theatres to open.

Abhishek Bachchan replied to Akshaye Rathi’s tweet, sharing the excitement over the cinema experience, and he wrote that he can’t wait for the popcorn, samosa, cold drink or people clapping and cheering. He tweeted, “Can’t wait. Popcorn, samosa and cold drink!!! The cheering, clapping, whistling and dancing. Best place on Earth!” However, his words were misconstrued by a Netizen who rudely slammed him for wanting theatres to open, and questioned him whether he would pay the bills of all those who will contract COVID-19 by going to the theatres.

The comment by a Twitter user read, “So you agree to pay the bills of all the people who will be infected with covid from these theatres? If yes, then please celebrate or else keep your dumb mouth shut.” Abhishek Bachchan gave a befitting reply and wrote, “Why don’t you try reading my tweet again? I wrote “can’t wait” which means as and when the government decides it’s safe to re-open the theatres. I look forward to when it’ll be safe to go back. Stop being contentious. And there’s absolutely no need to be rude.”

Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan spent almost a month in the Nanavati Hospital where he was being treated for COVID-19. On August 8, he announced that he tested negative and was discharged. A few days ago, he was seen at the engagement ceremony of JP Dutta’s daughter Nidhi.
